Since I'm going up there in couple weeks, what's the best way to get from Hartford to Lime Rock? Are there any trains or should I just rent a car and pay out the ass for the 3 days?

So I am assuming you are flying in to the airport. Looks like that place is sold out. The one at 2434 Berlin turnpike has cars and does a "we'll pick you up" thing. Maybe 3-4 miles from the airport and worth a phone call?
